Gerald L. Katell is President of Katell Properties, LCC, based in Los Angeles, California. The firm is a successful developer of commercial, industrial and residential real estate with over five million square feet developed since its inception in 1976.

Mr. Katell entered the real estate development business in 1964 with the Oceanic Properties subsidiary of Castle & Cooke in Hawaii. He served as President of Farwest Capital Company in Seattle, Washington, from 1967 to 1971 and as President of Parking Structures International in Los Angeles from 1971 to 1976. From 1976 to 1983 he served as President of W & K Company, a joint venture with Watt Industries, in which capacity he oversaw the development of numerous office and industrial parks and condominium projects throughout California.

Mr. Katell serves as Board Chair of L.A.'s BEST, a non-profit organization providing after school education and enrichment programs for 24,000 inner city elementary school children in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles District Council of the Urban Land Institute, a member of the Board of Governors of the Urban Land Institute Foundation, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Lusk Center for Real Estate Development at the University of Southern California. He is also a member of the World Presidents Organization and the Chief Executives Organization, and is a former chairman of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization. He serves on the Building Committee and as a director of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and on the board of the Music Center of Los Angeles. He also served on the Stanford Business School Advisory Council and currently serves on its Building Committee.

A native of New York, he received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Mr. Katell is a widower with four children and two grandchildren.

Biography

Mr. Smith, Vice President of Katell Properties, is responsible for the feasibility, project management, and coordination of new development projects. He is also responsible for the portfolio, asset, and property management for the Katell Properties portfolio and oversees the company's financial and management operations. Prior to joining Katell, Mr. Smith was an associate at Aldrich, Eastman & Waltch in Boston and Berkshire Realty Trust, also in Boston. Mr. Smith received a BS in Accounting from Syracuse University, an MBA from New Hampshire College, and a Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California. He is also a full member of the Urban Land Institute, a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, a member of Real Estate Investment Advisory Council, and USC's Lusk Center for Real Estate Development.
